So yes, Today is the official 10 month mark for Mr. Emmaus David Ulasich (EDU). As of 11/5/2010 he was 29.5 in. and 19.12 lbs.
11/29 he took 4 steps in a row, then fell into my awaiting arms...(see FB for videos.) He's still very spastic when he's taking his steps, but..he's doing it!
He's knocking down towers of blocks, he loves the vent in the front room-seems fascinated with the sound it makes when he drags his hand along it....like a guitar..?
2 teeth...nothing new there yet...
He's sooo fast...when he hears the bathroom door open...it's all I can do to keep him out of there....is there some baby gym where they race crawlers?...(totally just kidding.)
As for me,
I've almost finished my first semester working up at the U of U interpreting. It's been a good semester. I start my first semester taking classes January 10th. I'm taking 2 classes...we'll see how that works with juggling family life, work, and school, ...friends/family/free time. I really want to at least start working towards my BA. I know it'll probably take me a long time to graduate, but I want to start it now. I don't want to wait till I'm 40 to go back (not as far off as you'd think.) I really want my degree. Not sure what the main reason is, but...I want it, so I'm going to get it.
I'm currently registered for the Human Development and Family Studies major. It's short, and versatile. I figure I can use the info in my day to day life, as well as wanting a broad education in a variety of areas. I had initial been interested in Communications, but to be honest while I was trying to get in touch with the various advisers at the U, the HDFS department was a lot easier to coordinate with...so I'm going for it. It doesn't sound cool like English, or Science or Criminal Justice, but...I'm looking forward to the practical knowledge it has to offer.
Jake and I recently celebrated our 3rd anniversary. I think we are doing great. We are always working on improving our communication...as will take a lifetime to perfect I'm sure. This past year has been great with Jake staying home with Emmaus and me, doing my thing. We both seem to be in our own element. Some days are longer than others when I'm away from home, but I"m always greeted with warm smiles...and normally dinner ready too...that's always nice. I feel spoiled with how much Jake does for me and our family.
I've been eagerly waiting to get my NIC results back from RID. (That's the national certification level for interpreting.) It's been 12 weeks and 2 days. Apparently they are behind with sending out the results because of some staffing problem....they said it could take up to 4 more weeks...I certainly hope it doesn't, but...what can I do?...I just wait....
I've been helping in the nursery the past few weeks. It's fun to hang out with the babies. Some of them anyway. Sometimes there are more aggressive kids back there, and it's hard to keep the balance with the younger ones...Emmaus is the youngest one back there at the moment....but for the most part we achieve success.
I feel like I've been lazy with my walk with God. Haven't been reading my Bible, or other study material, nor have I taken the time to really seek God's face in prayer. I want to be the strongest wife, mother, child that I can be, and I know I can't reach my full potential unless I'm spending time with the Father. I want to be like the person who says something like...I spend this amount of time with God everyday, and if I know I'm going to be extra busy, I want to spend double that time. I just need to do it....
I'm thankful for my God, husband, son, mom and dad, and mom and mom and dad, and friends, and family. For my jobs, house, car, snow, health and my life in general. God, thank you for loving me.
as always, thanks for reading..
Tomorrow: Beignet day!!!
