33-34 weeks and Beignet day

34 Weeks!! and Christmas eve am.

This was 33 weeks:

This is our belated Beignet day tradition. For those of you who don't know, Our dance team, Prosphatos planned a trip down to New Orleans in 2003 (just before Katrina hit.) Susanna had planned most of it and last minute couldn't join us. We had the BEST time, and the 3 of us that DID go brought back Beignet's...well the Moore's already had them, but we all decided it would be fun to have a Beignet day and make them up here in the "North"...so every year since (we think) we've have Dec 2nd set apart for just that. A time to get together, eat nummy french pastry and cafe' au lait ....so here is our annual Beignet day

Elizabeth checking to make sure the oil is hot enough

This year "on" beignet day, 'liz' got sick and so was rebecca, and they didn't want to be around the prego lady, so we postponed it till the 23rd. This is rebecca cutting the dough, and susanna stealing some of it.
(Jake made the dough this time, since they had already done the dough for the 2nd before they knew anyone was going to be sick.)

Classic pic from our traveling days..had to get one in

Rebecca cutting: serated knife, not so helpful....she found out shortly after this was taken: sorry no one helped you out before, you are such a trooper! you did great even with a crappy knife

Beignet's frying

Cafe au Lait getting ready to keep me awake all night (the only drop of coffee i've had while prego..and most likely my last!

Powder sugar: couldn't resist the pic..thought the ziploc imprint was awesome.

I wanted the messy job, plus, you always NEED MORE powdered sugar...as jake will be demonstrating momentarily
Prosphatos: together again. (performing at Oasis Christmas eve 11pm service!)

Last year while elizabeth and rebecca were on hiatus in europe/egypt, we invited daniel and susanna to sit in with us...and now they are apart of the tradition...jake is well, married to me...and always a ball to have around: again see pic below!! Plus, he's one of the fam with the moore's since he did live there for a year.

our beautiful susanna..such a marvelous friend!

nice smile dan the man. glad you could make it.

rebecca, your joy for Christmas is encouraging. I love how you find joys in the little things

Elizabeth: mon ami...life wouldn't be the same without you. We've been through a lot, glad there's much more to experience together!

Jake: not getting enough of the powder sugar..could he have MORE personality? So talented and loving...i could go on and on, but...i won't.

Loving getting messy! and yeah for beignet day ,and for john and betty for sharing their anniversary with our traditional beignet day...and for having us over to watch Scrooge (1951) My first time watching it, and i loved it. Yeah for reason's to celebrate.
and as always,
thanks for reading. baby U should hopefully be appearing in the next 3-5 weeks!!! we're gonna be parents!! yikes and jumping for joy all at the same time. Stay tuned.

Other happenings at the U house

We started talking about baking cookies, so we went to the store with Grandma Sandy...Did you know that they sell like 10 different kinds of Hershey Kisses now?..Peppermint/mint/almond/soft chocolate middle/hugs/dark/regular..and i know there were a few more..craziness....POINT BEING: We had a recipe for the peanut butter with kiss on top..so we made em..and mmmmm GOOD..specially when they just come out of the oven..!!

Mr. Cookie monster himself
Delicious..and soo easy

32 weeks...I think...i'm losing track...it just keeps gettin bigger

in all its cuteness! For those who aren't around to feel the belly...the belly and host wish you could be here to feel it moving.
as always, thanks for reading

The U house...

We put together bookshelves for the nursery...we being, I started, Jake finished...the nursery is all him!
Jake had his own idea of how to paint the nursery, so...here he is, getting 'er done

and the "finished" project...crib...with awesome bedding

bookshelf/toy/stuffed animal holder, changing table/dresser/bath stuff holder/where everything goes for now...

and window valance/rug..and just to the right you can see the other book shelf/lamp..etc...quite a "start" for the nursery. I can't say enough how blessed we are by all the generosity people have been showing us.

THE baby shower

I didn't sleep much at all the night before the shower, hence, I had a chance to do my hair...awww, cute. My friends that hosted the shower for me are from out of state...they ordered these special cookies from a friend of theirs, flew home for Thanksgiving, hand carried the delicate boxes on the plane, and brought them back for my shower. The girls are amazingly talented, and I couldn't be more blessed to have crossed paths with them. Thanks again girls. (not to mention the candy filled giraffe boxes on top of the nummy cookies, and the brownies....nummy...)

This shower was primarily friends from work and Oasis..I'm so lucky to be loved by so many people. We really couldn't be THIS prepared without you all. And the baby's library is already stocked fuller than mine is!

Not sure that this pic shows how much stuff we were given..but it was A LOT...a few people "pushed" the pink or blue thing..people have to have their opinions about what they think the baby is eh? I don't mind...I'm really eager to meet whomever I've been incubating for the past 8 plus months.

And here are my girls...Not sure that they want their names posted, so I'll just leave you with their smiling faces...as you can see it was an African Safari theme, lions, and giraffes and and and...oh and they had everyone bring their favorite children's book to help start Baby U's library...here are the ones we got...Really, girls. You ARE the best, and I still can't say thanks enough for all your efforts organizing this! I love you much!

Books:
All the ways I love you
Goodnight Moon
The Alphabet book
Go, Dog. Go!
Mr Brown can Moo! Can you?
The Very Hungry Catepillar
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?
Little Golden Book: Christmas favorites
Corduroy
Frog and TOad Together
If you give a cat a cupcake
Tikki Tikki Tembo
I was so mad: mercer mayer
I just forgot
Love you forever
Leo the Late Bloomer
The Twelve Dancing Princesses
Stllaluna
I'm not familiar with half of them, which means, I'm really looking forward to reading them to the baby. Jake's already started with Goodnight Moon. He's as excited as Jake gets about anything. It's so cute!
