These first few pics are WAAAyyyy out of order, but..this is us breaking character to do our countdown....such a myriad crowd we have come together to drink in the new year...orc, princess, elf, etc.....yeah for Peace!
If you are familiar with the books, apparently the Eagles save the day a few times...or something like that, Rebecca stopped in and said her hellos after she got off of work, I was glad she stopped by, and Kudos, for creativity on your costume..!
Matt stopped by early on, He was also apart of what we did last year, I thought he should be in at least one pic since he couldn't stay...he went home to be a daddy and husband.
David TOTALLY got into the whole thing, he was the mstermind behind making a village out of Jacob and Monira's house, and decorated the walls with Misty Mountains and brought all of his cool weapons to bring more realism to our evening. Thanks david.
So here is the explanation of what we did and sort of the why...not that we needed one.Last year Jake wrote a Mafia Murder Mystery for New Years Eve. We dressed up and acted out what he wrote, and brought in the new year, in style (sorry, don't have those pics on this computer, they are probably in an earlier post.) SOOOOO....This year he wrote another one. Many of the participants from 2008 loved it so much, they wanted to "be in on it" again for 2009/bringing in 2010. The theme: Lord of the Rings...WE have many Tolkein fans (sp?) in the bunch. So here is the end product of a lot of work, effort, time, and excitement: I give you: Middle Earth Murder Mystery (pics are in no specific order.)
Corey the elf
Here we have a second elf and Haradrin warlord reading over their parts..-Last year because of time restraints, the booklets were merely white printer paper with the different scene descriptions typed out. This year Jake out did himself with the details. He made these books and the evidence was so elaborate...We're hoping he can get these mysteries published somehow, we're not entirely sure how the copyright issues will work with this one specifically, but if you know anyone or anything about getting stuff like this published, pass the info on!(EVERYONE got into costume...many made their own, or had it made for them...it was AMAZING, for us "amatuers"
Sorry, the pics are out of order..I thought it would be funny for Jake to have to kiss me with a beard on, since i had to a little while he was growing out his facial hair last year, not pleasurable...
Monira wasn't a "main role" but she dressed up as and Ent, and was on stilts and her costume was just beyond..wow, we were all so impressed..and that black/green blob on the ground is her husband, Jacob, the Orc...she did his costume also...he SCARED me when he first came out...wait till you see more pics, they went latex and everything. We really appreciated everyones enthusiasm and participation, it really made this new years eve impressionable
He enjoyed himself WAYYY too much..he kept talking about wanting to eat the Hobbit in the room...poor erin.
Jake didn't have a "character" being that he wrote the thing, but he did sew his Cloak himself....and he facilitated the evening, making sure all the evidence was presented correctly...it really went over well, not sure how we'll top this one.
Max wasn't a main role either but he got into costume well enough. (A murder mystery can only have so many "main" roles...people were still really good about staying the character they came as and participating in the discussions...he's supposed to be...someone from the North..not really sure how it fits with LOTR, but i'm not the expert...
Sara was a Numenorian Princess...she always dresses the part so well. We love having her involved with these things.

This is our Blue Wizard. Daniel was cool to be given this part sort of last minute, cause another friend of ours wasn't supposed to be able to get off of work, Dan did a great job.
Bill played our Inn Keeper...a decedant of Butterbur, or something like that, I'm not really into the books like everyone else, I just know it was really nice having him there, he was into the role, and kept refilling our drinks. (soda and water....) and was involved with the discussions too, Bill is AWESOME!

Me as a dwarf...we knew i'd be like 9 months pregnant for this, when it came down to assigning parts, so of course, i'd be the female dwarf..it was fun...loved my beard..
again, dig the cloak
He was goin to come as a ranger..just as an extra character, but the cloak looked a bit more wizardish...either way, it's awesome...and warm.
I love our photo sessions, soo much fun...and jake made my tunic too...nice baby bump , it looks like just any normal portly belly eh?

awesome pictures! looks like so much fun. were you a female dwarf? i remember they're supposed to look like the men, even with beards. hee hee. anyway, good job. i'm impressed.
quite right jeannine, i is a female dwarf...and good job on the "we's looks just like the men"...jake insisted i have a beard, it turned out awesome!
